Good Evening, ECMS Families!
We have an IMPORTANT week ahead at ECMS! Beginning Monday, September 28, our students will begin taking their Interim Proficiency Measures (IPMs).
IPMs help us determine how well students are mastering the standards they have learned so far this year and give our teachers valuable information about where students are succeeding and where additional instruction or support may be needed.
A few important reminders:
• IPMs are given in all core content and exploratory classes.
• IPMs are for a grade, so we want every student to give their very best effort.
• The results help us measure progress toward standards mastery and individual student goals.
• Most importantly, this data helps our teachers make instructional decisions that keep our students moving forward!
We are proud of the hard work our students and teachers have put in so far this year. Now it’s time for our Engineers to show what they know!
Families, please help us by encouraging your student to get a good night’s rest, be at school each day, take their time, and give their very best effort. Thank you and have a great evening.

This is a notification from Estill County School District regarding the Cardiac Emergency Response Team (CERT) Drill that was completed at your child’s school today.
As part of our ongoing commitment to student and staff safety, the school conducted a simulated cardiac emergency response drill approximately at 10:15. The purpose of this drill is to practice and evaluate our emergency response procedures, communication, and coordination with emergency medical services.
Please note: This was only a drill. There were no actual medical emergencies.
The drill is designed to help our school team respond quickly and effectively should a cardiac emergency ever occur.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to maintain a safe environment for all students and staff.
If you have questions, please contact the District Health Coordinator, Brooklyn Moreland at the Board of Education.

Engineer Highlight!
This past Friday began like a normal day at Estill Springs Elementary, but it ended with a moment their school family will not soon forget. The day was filled with joy as ESE celebrated grandparents with its annual Grandparent Parade. Students were showered with love...and a little candy, too! The candy was safely tucked away in their backpacks as learning continued throughout the day. At dismissal, students were allowed to enjoy a piece of their candy before heading home for the long Labor Day weekend. That's when an ordinary school day suddenly became anything but ordinary.
A second grader in Mrs. Kaylee Combs' classroom began choking on his piece of candy. Without hesitation, Mrs. Combs sprang into action. She quickly recognized what was happening and performed the Heimlich maneuver, successfully dislodging the candy and saving his life!
Teachers are called upon to do so many things each day. They teach, encourage, protect, comfort, guide, and love the students entrusted to their care. Teachers are heroes every single day...but some days, they remind us just how deep their love grows. We are incredibly thankful for Mrs. Combs' quick thinking, training, and calm response in a frightening moment. Most of all, we are thankful that the student is okay!
Mrs. Kaylee Combs - your Estill County Schools Family is proud of you! Thank you for serving students every single day and for being there when your student needed you most!
